The the first half of 2010 results make for grim trading; Foxconn had a net loss of USD $143 million on revenues of USD $3.23 billion. That revenue number represents 2.2% growth over last 12 month equivalent figure, the loss is getting worse compared to USD $18.7 million in the first 6 mos. of 2009.

Foxconn did manage to grow the business representing itself somewhat successfully in the challenging electronics industry but it failed to convert its increased revenues into more profit.

The sliding losses are show failing business processes inside the company. It is pretty shocking, understanding the major revenue it is racking up from Apple’s amazing sales expansion. It should be able to take manufacturing advantage of the retention of Apple’s business. Apple also is introducing new products each quarter which should be adding to the revenue and bottom-line

The company is concentrating on the cash-rich smartphone game, and we can assume Apple is a key part of this plan. I’m sure Apple will be watching Foxconn’s performance carefully. While business practices are different in China, if Apple’s biggest manufacturer suddenly had to cease trading, Apple’s rocket-fueled ride to tech super-company would be risky.

You see it with the Facebook and the Twitter apps and you will begin to see more and more in the future. I noticed an article in Wired Magazine titled “The Web is Dead”, not the Internet, mind you, but the Web as we know it with static web pages that people have to go find. Now what you want “comes to you” and it is available on your phone and computer also. The internet is moving towrd “applications” rather than static Web sites. Even blogs are now applications and social media is all apps and widgets; non-HTML sites that deliver to the user via RSS and direct connect feeds that deliver minutes-old content to the user. The Apple iPad and this new Samsung Galaxy Tab are leading the way into this 3rd generation of Internet usage. But Samsung has brought together all of Samsung’s leading innovations to provide users with far more  capabilities while users are mobile. Power mobile users are able to experience PC-like web-browsing and enjoy all forms of multimedia content on the super 7-inch display, wherever they are; and the speeds are up to 7.2 MBPS. Users can now continuously communicate via regular text e-mail, voice and video calls, texting or social media networks, like Facebook and Twitter, with an optimized user interface. They can also do webinars and participate while on the go; one on one or to thousands. they can be at the office or at the beach. They are “untethered” from normal offices and communications. “The Samsung GALAXY Tab is pushing the market in new directions.” Everyone else will have to follow. Well Apple, you have some more work to catch up; HTC, your Evo has been up-staged; Motorola, you’d best be working on the Droid X2. More and more people are turning to facebook to communicate with their “friends” and their business associates. Why would you need to search Google when you could ask a hundred or more of your friends what car to buy; or where to go to the movie tonight? Would you rather get Google’s advertiser-recommendation or get it from a friend? Facebook is becoming the favored search forum here and unless Google gets it’s act together, like Microsoft missing the boat on Internet, it will get too far behind on social media and be history in a couple of years. what Google needs to do is wrap their Google Tools, Apps and Buzz into a very friendly social platform that is very easy to use before Mr. Zuckergerg gets too far ahead.

I do a lot of testimonial work and try to get people to be natural in front of a camera but sometimes they can’t get the words out or are so scared that their makeup isn’t right that they can’t think of the real reason we are taping. If there was no camera or it wasn’t conspicuous it may help.

Now, there has to be a HUGH amount of integrity behind this though. You can’t go around spy-caming your customers and use the secret information without their permission. They won’t be your customer for long and it might get you a big fat lawsuit too. But it can help in certain cases when researching “the man on the street” to get research on focus groups and other types of information retrieval to use to see if your products or ads work. You may want to add it to a computer monitor and video someone to see their reaction to a squeeze page you are testing or a new video you are producing. There are many ways you can use this type of equipment for good useful purposes.

Security cameras are not just used to catch a thief anymore. Now the term ” nannycam ” is becoming the hot name for many types of surveillance. It may be an employee that doesn’t seem to working when you are not there; it maybe a independent contractor over-charging for their time. You may even need to watch your children so they stay off your computer when you aren’t at home … or other no-no activities.

And, of course, you would like “To Catch A Thief” if they show up, so you can have the police retrieve your items before they get to the pawnbroker fence. This YouTube video shows many ways that surveilance is used nowadays to track more than the thieves.

I was looking for some camera equipment for my house and came across a most interesting site. It’s pretty cool too. It not only has cameras but it has all these neat spy tools for computer tracking and security. Maybe you like this type of stuff.  If you do, you have to see this site at  Brickhouse Security. They have just about everything a parent would love and maybe a cheated spouse might need to prove their case. It is also a great site for the marketer that needs to know info about their work without the hassel of a balking film star.

That’s what  CNBC news sources are telling, which  reported that “this new digital news venture would incorporate text, photo and video, designed for the iTunes app format.”

iPad featuring the electronic Wall Street Journal

With the iPad’s tremendous success and many companies from Google and Microsoft to HP and Dell planning their own tablet devices, it’s not too surprising News Corp, who owns a bunch of newspapers including the Wall Street Journal

and the New York Post, would want to corner the digital market now rather than be an also-ran.

Think about it marketers; are we looking more toward traditional web surfers or should we be exploring new ways to attract the new Internet class of mobile travelers that will be doing everything for consumption on smart-phones, pad computers and portables.

We all need to put on our thinking caps and ponder the next generation of buyers of our wares and our client’s wares.
